Forest Park Cub Scout Pack 109 hosted their annual Pinewood Derby Saturday, January 12th at the Howard Mohr Community Center. Thirty local scouts from K-5th grade prepared their pinewood blocks into masterpieces that raced down a track. The Derby Championship round had the top finisher from each den. First place finisher was Ben Mack, followed by Dylan Kernkamp and Carter Leonard in third place. Pack 109 is grateful to every volunteer and parent who helped make our pinewood derby a success. We are especially grateful to the Community Center for providing the space and removing the snow that morning. In addition, we would not have the resources to provide for our scouts without our sponsoring organization, the Kiwanis Club of Forest Park. Special thank you to Kiwanis President Tom Michael, who shared his scouting background with us, and the Kiwanis members who joined us at the Derby including Mayor Calderone, Jim Collis, Chris Harris, and Ned Wagner. In addition, the pack would like to thank Boy Scout Troop 107 for helping to run the event.
