Pancake Breakfast

The Forest Park Cub Scouts and Firefighters will hold their annual pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on May 11 at the Fire Department, 517 Desplaines Ave. Tickets $5 each. 

Books on the Chopping Block 

Enjoy a performance by City Lit Theater of dramatic readings of short excerpts of books from the 10 most frequently challenged book s of 2017, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on May 15 at the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd. A brief discussion and question-and-answer session will follow the performance. 

G.K. Chesterton Society 

Join book lovers for a meeting of the G.K. Chesterton Society, where attendees will discuss the author’s “What’s Wrong With This World” from 2 to 4 p.m. on May 11 at Centuries & Sleuths Bookstore, 7419 Madison St.

Fifth Annual German Fest

Historic Progressive Dinner

Enjoy dinner, drinks, dessert and more at the Historical Society of Forest Park’s Progressive Dinner, which will run from 6 to 9 p.m. on May 11 and start at The Beacon Pub, 101 Circle Ave. Tickets are $55 per person, available at ForestParkHistory.org.

Health Care Town Hall Meeting 

The Progress Center for Independent Living will host a meeting on managed care and healthcare issues impacting people with disabilities, from 1 to 3 p.m. on May 9 at the Oak Park Public Library, 834 W. Lake St. The meeting will include presentations about how to navigate managed care, issues impacting the community and self-advocacy tools. 

Lakeside Flutes 

Enjoy the sounds of a flute choir from 2 to 3 p.m. on May 12 at the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd. 

Kiwanis Pasta Dinner 

Join the Kiwanis Club of Forest Park for its annual pasta dinner from 4 to 8 p.m. on May 18 at the Howard Mohr Community Center, 7640 Jackson Blvd. Tickets are $10 for adults, and $7 for children and those age 65 and older. A Chorus Line
