Graduation Celebration

Library staff will celebrate the milestones of the class of 2019 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on May 24 at the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd.

Join library staff for popcorn and a screening of “Flamingo Road” from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on May 24 at the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd. 

Dames at Sea

Staff from the Howard Mohr Community Center will travel to Theater at the Center in Indiana from 10:15 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on May 29 for a screening of “Dames at Sea,” a parody of early Hollywood movie musicals. Lunch is included. Tickets are $76 for residents and $80 for non-residents. Reservations required. Call the Howard Mohr Community Center at 708-771-7737 to sign up.

Reading Awake Book Group

Join fellow book lovers for a discussion of author Barbara Kingsolver’s “Unsheltered,” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on May 22 at the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd.

Fifth Annual German Fest 

Enjoy live music and entertainment, authentic German food and beer, games for the kids and shop wares from local vendors. The fest will run from 4 to 11 p.m. on June 7, and 12 to 11 p.m. on June 8, at the Altenheim Picnic Grove, 7824 Madison St. Learn more at GermanfestForestPark.com.

Pokemon Science 

Tweens can share their Pokemon knowledge—and match charactes like Bulbasaur and Venusaur to their real-life plant equivalents—from 4 to 5 p.m. on May 22 at the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd. Participants receive a free mini-fig for attending. 

Progress Center Appreciation Luncheon

Celebrate the work of the Progress Center for Independent Living from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on May 22 at the Howard Mohr Community Center, 7640 Jackson Blvd. 

Teen Tinker Time

Teens can get hands-on with circuits and more from 4 to 5 p.m. on May 28 at the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd. 

History Discussion Group

Join book lovers for a discussion of author Neal Bascomb’s “The Winter Fortress: The Epic Mission to Sabotage Hitler’s Atomic Bomb” from 2 to 4 p.m. on May 26 at Centuries & Sleuths Bookstore, 7419 Madison St. 

Chopin Elementary Orchestra Fundraiser

Kagan and Gaines will host a concert as a fundraiser for the Chicago Public School Orchestra from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on May 25 at Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School, 325 S. Kenilworth Ave. in Oak Park. Tickets are $25, free for children age 17 and under.
