State of the Art forum

The Forest Park Arts Alliance is holding its second State of the Art forum, seeking community input for strategic planning. Members of the community interested in arts presentations are invited to attend on Sept. 25 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Jimmy’s Place, 7411 Madison St.

Friday Fun Night at the Park District of Forest Park  

On Friday, Sept. 27 from 6:15 to 8 p.m. drop your child off at the Park District, 7501 Harrison St., Building 4, and enjoy an evening out.

Kids will be entertained with pizza or a hot dog dinner, movie and popcorn. Pre-register by phone at 708-366-7500 or pay at the door. The cost is $5 per child. Ages 5-12.

Walmart car seat trade-in event 

Walmart is teaming up with TerraCycle to recycle used car seats during Walmart’s Best of Baby Month. Bring your child’s old car seat to the Forest Park Walmart Supercenter, 1300 Desplaines Ave., on Sept. 29 from 2 to 6 p.m. and exchange it for a $30 Walmart gift card. 

Car seats collected in this program will be recycled by TerraCycle. Limit two car seat trade-ins per family. See Walmart.com for more information.

History group at Century & Sleuths 

Join host Carol Debiak to discuss “The Girls of Murder City: Fame, Lust & Beautiful Killers Who Inspired Chicago” by Douglas Perry on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 2 p.m. at the Century and Sleuths Bookstore, 7419 Madison St.

Kiwanis Club peanut sale 

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 27-29, the Kiwanis Club of Forest Park will hold its annual Peanut Sale. On street corners, arterial stops, ‘el’ platforms and other busy stops, you’ll see club members offering fresh honey roasted peanuts. 

All proceeds go to the Kiwanis Club Foundation, which awards scholarships and grants to children and youth organizations in Forest Park each year.

 A full box of 100 bags of peanuts is only $50, and available by contacting the Howard Mohr Community Center at 708-771-7737.

Suicide alertness training at Riveredge

Stoop Sessions get funky 

Enjoy the music of Zae Connie for the Forest Park Arts Alliance’s next free Stoop Session concert at 841 Marengo Ave. at 7 p.m. on Oct. 1. Connie’s passion is fusing jazz, R&B, hip-hop, funk and gospel. Bring a chair or picnic blanket.

Chamber after-hours networking event 

Join the Forest Park Chamber of Commerce and meet the folks from Floor Coverings International at the Life Storage Building, 1800 Desplaines Ave., for a Business After Hours event on Thursday, Sept. 26 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Networking, raffle, food, drink and lots of fun.
