Pumpkin-Palooza

Free and open to the entire community, this family event sponsored by McAdam Landscaping will feature hayrides, face painting, a pumpkin painting station, a spooky story time and sweet treats as the main ingredients. Empowering Gardens Pumpkin Party

Haunted Halloween
Co-ed 16″ Tournament

The Park District of Forest Park is hosting a one-day, double elimination, coed Halloween 16″ tournament. Costumes are encouraged (and best costume wins a prize). Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Come on out to see the costumes and root for your favorite team! October 19 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Park District of Forest Park, 7501 Harrison St.

Green Tweens meet-up! 

Tweens are invited to get their hands dirty and learn about nature at a Forest Park Public Library event at Empowering Gardens, 7730 Madison St. Attendees will get their own pie-sized pumpkin to paint. Forest Park meeting on recreational cannabis

On Friday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. Forest Park Mayor Rory Hoskins and the village council will hold a special meeting to discuss recreational cannabis. The meeting will be held at the Forest Park Community Center, 7640 W. Jackson Blvd. and is open to the public.

Sunday, Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. Join Author Georgann Prochaska for a discussion and signing of her book “Murder Comes to Grindstone.”

Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. Join authors Dr. Tyra Manning and Karen Keilt for discussion and signing of their books “Your Turn: Ways to Celebrate Life Though Storytelling” and “The Parrot’s Perch: A Memoir.”

All events will be held at Centuries and Sleuths Bookstore, 7419 Madison St. in Forest Park.
