Police were called to the 7-Eleven at 205 Harlem Ave. for an armed robbery on Sept. 14 at 9:30 p.m. A witness said a male offender entered the store, walked around the counter, and displayed a small black handgun. He demanded that the employee open the register.
He grabbed bills out of the register and exited the store. The witness believed he entered a white sedan waiting in the alley. The loss was believed to be approximately $300, and the suspect is believed to be the same offender as in a previous robbery.
Two noise complaints issued to same residence
Police were called to the 1100 block of Dunlop Ave. on Sept. 14 at 4:51 a.m. for an excessive noise complaint. A neighbor called because the perpetrator was playing music and talking so loudly that the officer could hear it from outside the building. The officer noted that he has “personally taken numerous noise complaints” regarding this apartment.
When the officer knocked on the offender’s door, the noise became even louder. The resident didn’t seem concerned with the volume of his music, even after the officer said he’d be issued a ticket.
“Go ahead and give me the ticket. I don’t care. I’ll just pay it,” said the offender. The officer issued a local ordinance citation for excessive noise.
On Sept. 19, the same officer was on duty and called to the same location at 1:04 a.m., again for excessive noise complaints. Another local ordinance citation for excessive noise was given to the occupant of the apartment. Police plan to mark the apartment as a nuisance property “due to numerous calls for excessive noise.”
Open alcohol citations
An open alcohol citation was given to a man asleep in his car near Madison Street and Jackson Boulevard on Sept. 16 at 2:06 a.m. The car was parked with the keys in the ignition and the driver asleep in the driver’s seat. The officer banged on the window several times before the offender woke up.
He said he was waiting for a friend to come pick him up. He was asked to step out of the vehicle, and the officer found a plastic cup in the center console with what appeared to be alcohol in it. An open bottle of Remy Martin was in the passenger seat. No other contraband was found. The driver called his friend to come and drive his vehicle.
Another open alcohol citation was given to the driver of a car that was pulled over for speeding on Sept. 19 at 1:17 a.m. An open, half-full can of Monaco brand alcohol mixed drink was found in the center console cupholder, and an open and approximately half full bottle of Don Julio was found on the back-seat floor.
Car stolen from Thornton’s
A car was stolen from Thornton’s, 601 Harlem Ave., on Sept. 16 at 4:09 a.m. when a man left his car at the pump and went inside the store to buy snacks. He looked out the window and observed a man, previously in the store at the same time he was, enter his vehicle and drive away. The keys had been left in the car.
Overnight guest steals car, wallet
A man who met someone on Jack’d was robbed by his new friend after spending the night together. He called police on Sept. 16 at 3:31 p.m. after waking up and realizing the person he’d met on the dating app was gone, along with the victim’s wallet, car keys and vehicle. Texts from the overnight guest said, “I am almost at Tennessee, don’t worry you’ll get your car back,” and charges were made to the victim’s credit cards.
These items were obtained from police reports filed by the Forest Park Police Department, Sept. 14-20, and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Unless otherwise indicated, anybody named in these reports has only been charged with a crime. These cases have not been adjudicated.
