Two men in their early twenties filled two to three garbage bags with “As Seen on TV” items from Walgreens, 7200 Roosevelt Rd., and left the store without paying on Oct. 3 at 11:33 p.m. They were last seen traveling east on Roosevelt Road carrying the bags.
‘Respectful’ man gets open container citation
A man on the 7400 block of Randolph Street was issued a local ordinance citation for having an open container of alcohol on Oct. 2 at 12:41 a.m. He was holding a clear plastic cup containing a brown liquid. When police spoke to him, he poured out his drink and tossed the cup into a trash bin. According to the police report, “throughout the stop, [he] was respectful and cooperative.”
Change and shoes stolen
Loose change and a gym bag containing Nike workout shoes were stolen from a car on the 500 block of Beloit Avenue during the overnight hours between Oct. 1 and 2.
Car wash manager assaulted
The manager of Crystal Car Wash was assaulted by a customer playing loud music from his car behind the car wash on Oct. 2 at 2:22 p.m. The manager had asked the offender to turn down the music, but he refused. The manager returned with a paper and wrote down the plate information of the offender’s car. The offender asked what he’d written down, and when the manager told him, the offender smacked the paper out of his hands and said, “How about I $#!% you up?” The offender left prior to the arrival of the police, but the license plate number was provided to the reporting officer.
Car glued and glittered
A man returned to his parked car at Walmart, 1300 Desplaines Ave., on Oct. 2 at 11:38 p.m. to find someone had put large amounts of glue and glitter on it while he was inside the store. Attempts to remove the mess with rags left glue residue behind.
Walmart security were able to find video of the defacement, which involved three subjects exiting a vehicle and surrounding the victim’s car. The victim recognized the car as belonging to a family friend. When he texted her, she admitted to the glittering, stating that she and her cousins had done it. The victim said he wanted to sign complaints against all three offenders.
Garbage can engulfed in flames
Police and fire fighters were called when a village-owned garbage can on the northeast corner of Harvard and Ferdinand was on fire on Oct. 3 at 1:09 a.m. The police report describes the garbage can as being “fully engulfed in flames.” The fire department put out the fire.
Skateboard stolen
A 29-year-old man reported that his motorized skateboard was stolen from him at Short Stop Bar, 7425 Madison St., on Oct. 3 at around 3 a.m. The victim said he was sitting on a barstool with his board, which was worth around $1,000, next to him, when someone grabbed it and ran out the door. The victim didn’t call the police until 3:44 a.m. because, he said, he was very frustrated. Police report he also appeared to be intoxicated.
The bartender, however, said he is positive the theft did not occur inside the bar. After the bar closed, reported the bartender, he observed the victim of the theft skating around Constitution Court.
These items were obtained from police reports filed by the Forest Park Police Department, Sept. 28-Oct. 4, and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Unless otherwise indicated, anybody named in these reports has only been charged with a crime. These cases have not been adjudicated.
