Forest Park’s annual Window Walk, with live-action decorations in store fronts, horse-pulled carriage rides down Madison Street, and hot chocolate served by District 91 cannot happen this year. Like so many other things, the event has been canceled because of COVID-19 safety concerns.
But the Forest Park Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors the annual event, isn’t going to let the holidays go uncelebrated in downtown Forest Park.
This year, the chamber is sponsoring “Home for the Holidays,” a series of events focused on keeping safe while celebrating and promoting local businesses. Tentative events include:
- Decorated merchant windows beginning Dec. 11
- Santa’s mailbox at two different locations, where believers of all ages can drop off letters to Santa
- Photo op with “Cool Santa,” a life-size Santa ice sculpture, tentatively scheduled for Dec. 18, 19, and 20
- Holiday Flowerpots on Parade, in which businesses and local organizations decorate the planters along Madison Street, like they did for Halloween
