Tour Forest Home Cemetery by bike
Grab your bike for a physically distanced tour of Forest Home Cemetery, 863 Desplaines Ave. with the Historical Society of Forest Park on Sunday, Sept. 12.
Two tours will be available at 11 a.m. and at 1 p.m. Tour guide Amy Binns-Calvey will show you the incredible treasures in the cemetery, including a Potawatomi burial mound, the Ancient Order of Druids plot, a Civil War mortar, Tiffany-designed headstones and much, much more.
Register at forestparkhistory.org. Meet at the parking lot behind the cemetery office on Desplaines Avenue. Guests will need to sign a waiver on the day of the tour to ride on cemetery property.
Intro to modeling
The world of modeling has something for everyone. Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd., invites kids ages 11-13 to learn about the modeling business, how to pose on a runway and understand the strength of beauty in your body from Model Esteem at an in-person event on Sept. 4 from 3 to 5 p.m.

The event will be held in the Youth Services Program Room and take-home snacks will be provided. Registration is necessary to guarantee participation. A waiting list will be available. Register online at fppl.evanced.info/signup/Calendar.
Front porch jam session
Forest Park Arts Alliance invites you to grab your chair or blanket and set up on the front lawn as they present the music of Dig Engine, who will perform on the grand porch of 905 Elgin Ave. on Thursday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m.

Dig Engine performs original songs that look at the joys and struggles of life and relationships through an ultimately hopeful lens.
This free event is community friendly and completely outdoors. No registration required.

Nature walk and story at Trailside
Join the Trailside Museum of Natural History, 738 Thatcher Ave. in River Forest, on Friday, Sept. 3 or Sunday, Sept. 5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a nature walk while reading the English/Spanish children’s book “Señorita Mariposa” about the migration of monarch butterflies.
Afterward, participants can pick up a free bag with a related craft and outdoor activity to continue the adventure at home.

D91 hosts back-to-school open houses

Forest Park Elementary School District 91 marks the new school year with a couple of open houses to welcome the community into the schools.
Betsy Ross School, 1315 Marengo Ave., invites students and families to its open house on Wednesday, Sept. 1 at 6:30 p.m. while Grant-White School, 147 Circle Ave., will welcome students and families on Thursday, Sept 2 at 6:30 p.m.
