Halloween softball tournament

Park District of Forest Park will host a co-ed Halloween softball tournament at its fields at 7501 Harrison St. on Saturday, Oct. 16 and they are looking for teams to sign up.

Players must be 18 and older and double elimination games will kick off at 8 a.m. Costumes are not required, but highly recommended.

Forest Park family campout

Have a night of family under the stars in Forest Park during a Family Campout event on Sept. 18-19 on the baseball fields at the Park District of Forest Park, 7501 Harrison St.

The event starts at 5 p.m. on Sept. 18. Families can indulge in a chuck wagon dinner of hot dogs and beans, a campfire with roasted marshmallows and a movie on the range.  Wake up to breakfast in the morning.

The fight for voting rights

Forest Park Library and The League of Women Voter of Oak Park & River Forest present “SOS Democracy: The Fight for Voters Rights” a special Zoom event on Sept. 23 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

“Otis’ Dream”

The League of Women Voters Oak Park & River Forest will screen the film
“Otis’ Dream” as well as host guest speakers from Common Cause and the ACLU Illinois to talk about the threat of via restrictive voting laws and practices, where Illinois stands on voting laws and actions that can be taken to protect voting rights.

Library card signup month

September is National Library Card Sign Up Month and Forest Park Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd., is celebrating by encouraging all residents to get a library card.

Cards provide free access to not only books but a wealth of technology and media resources as well as educational programs that provide people of all ages opportunities pursue their dreams and passions.

Get your casket ready!

Forest Park Chamber is planning a frightfully good time at the 9th Annual Forest Park Casket Race on Oct. 23 at 9 a.m. Registration is open for teams featuring four runners and a “ghost” riding in the casket.
