A man accused of punching a woman in the head on a CTA Blue Line train told police that a fight did occur, but only after he told the woman to stop throwing food on the floor.

According to a Forest Park Police Department report, officers were dispatched to the Blue Line station at 711 Desplaines Ave. around 12:45 a.m. on Dec. 6. They were met there by a woman who told them a man “hit her in the back of the head with a closed fist.”

When he was interviewed by law enforcement, the alleged attacker told police he and the woman were sitting on the same train car when the woman began throwing food on the ground. He said that when he asked her to stop, a shouting match ensued, and the pair traded obscenities before a “physical altercation” took place.

The woman did not suffer any obvious injuries and declined medical attention at the scene.

The pair was separated for the night. No one was arrested.
