The Forest Park Kiwan-is and Forest Park Lions Club joined up to distribute 87 baskets to families on Christmas back in 1973, extending a tradition that started years earlier.
The distributions included delivering food the week before Christmas and delivering wrapped toys on Christmas morning to families who needed the holiday boost. This tradition is still a north star practice in town.
