A 19-year-old woman was allegedly shot in the thigh as she waited at a red light at the corner of Desplaines Avenue and Harrison Street early on the morning of Jan. 11, according to the Forest Park Police Department.

The woman told police that around 5:15 a.m. Tuesday she was on her way home from her first day of work at a new job when she stopped at the light. While she was stopped, she claimed a white Jeep SUV with tinted windows turned from Desplaines onto Harrison and someone began firing at her. She left the scene and headed home, where she called 911.

When officers arrived, the woman was conscious and breathing, and she told police she was three months pregnant. Officers found several bullet holes in the driver’s side door in addition to the wound in the woman’s left thigh. The woman was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Officers at the scene of the alleged shooting recovered three spent 9-millimeter shell casings near the intersection. No one has been arrested.
