Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Des Plaines Ave. May 15 for reports of a fire that engulfed a parked vehicle and had spread to a neighboring parked car. One witness who called 911 gave police descriptions of the two people who started the fire and drove away. Police reported that they pulled over a nearby car matching the description, and the two women were arrested for arson. At the police station, one woman told officers that about a month ago, while she was visiting a man in Chicago, a group smashed her car windows and threw bricks at the vehicle. When the woman found out who was responsible, she set the person’s car on fire, according to the police report.
Robinson’s Ribs employee charged with domestic battery
Police were dispatched to the 7400 block of Randolph Rd. for a physical altercation between a man and a woman. The two are dating and both work at Robinson’s Ribs in Oak Park, officers said in a police report. While on shift May 12, the woman became angry with the man for not defending her against another male employee who shoved her, she told police. The couple left work in a car together, and the man told police that while he was driving, his girlfriend attempted to take his keys, punched and scratched his face and pulled his hair. The woman told police she pulled his hair and hit him in the face two times because he wouldn’t let her out of the car. The woman was arrested on a count of domestic battery.
Burglary at Carole’s Next Big Thing
The manager of Carole’s Next Big Thing reported a burglary to police May 13. The manager said they closed the bar at 1:30 a.m. and placed a two-by-four in front of the front door, as usual. But at 10:30 a.m., the handyman called to report the front door had been forced open, according to the police report. About $300 was missing from the cash register.
Fire alarm pulled at McDonald’s
On May 14, police were dispatched to McDonald’s for a customer dispute. After a man was unable to pay for his food, he got into a verbal dispute with employees, then pulled the fire alarm while leaving McDonald’s. The store supervisor doesn’t wish to sign complaints, according to the police report.
Public consumption of alcohol at The Foundry
While on patrol May 18, police noticed 50 to 100 people outside The Foundry, many of whom were drinking alcohol, according to the police report. A bartender at The Foundry told police that the event space was hosting a birthday party that had just ended, officers said in the report. No one was cited, but police made up a report in case similar instances happen in the future.
These items were obtained from Forest Park Police Department reports dated May 12 through May 18 and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Anyone named in these reports has only been charged with a crime and cases have not yet been adjudicated. We report the race of a suspect only when a serious crime has been committed, the suspect is still at large, and police have provided us with a detailed physical description of the suspect as they seek the public’s help in making an arrest.
