Fire
On March 16, police responded to the 1200 block of Circle Avenue around 8 p.m. for a structure fire at Bernie’s Saw and Supply. The Forest Park Fire Department extinguished the fire and reported that they don’t suspect foul play. The business owner said nothing appeared out of the ordinary when she closed the business earlier that day.
In-state warrants
Police were dispatched to the Taco Bell on Harlem just before 10 a.m. March 14 to remove a man from the business. The manager told police that the man defecated on the restaurant floor after staff refused to let him use the rest room. Police located the man on Harlem Avenue, and, after he gave them a fake name, found him to have an active, no bond warrant out of Cook County. He was charged with his warrant and obstructing identification.
On March 14, police responded to the end of the CTA Blue Line for a man who was walking on the tracks in the train yard. Police made contact with the man and found him to have two warrants for his arrest. He repeatedly attempted to run away, so police tased the man and he was taken to the police department. He was charged with his warrants, three counts of resisting police and obstructing identification.
Criminal trespass
Police responded to the CTA Blue Line terminal at 5 p.m. on March 10 for someone walking on the tracks — not the first time that day that police had tended to this person trespassing on the train tracks. The man ran away from police, so they tasered him to protect him from the electrified rail and took him into custody. He was charged with criminal trespass to state-supported land.
These items were obtained from Forest Park Police Department reports dated March 10 through March 16 and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Anyone named in these reports has only been charged with a crime and cases have not yet been adjudicated. We report the race of a suspect only when a serious crime has been committed, the suspect is still at large, and police have provided us with a detailed physical description of the suspect as they seek the public’s help in making an arrest.
