Seventeen complaints in 18 years. Killed an unarmed man in 2017. And we all saw the video. We saw the bullying, the violence, and the blatant abuse of his power.

So what would it take to fire Daniel Miller off the Forest Park police force? How much more does our community need to be terrorized by this guy? What other crimes do we need to see?

Police officers all over the country lament that people have turned against them. They say the mistrust is unwarranted, that they are victims of propaganda. They say all of this while criminals like Daniel Miller get to keep their jobs — spending decades crushing the trust that communities are supposed to have in police officers.

Instead of getting rid of this malignant tumor on their force, the FP PD (with the help of our village commissioners and Mayor Hoskins) have decided to hire a communications strategist to … what? Smooth this over? Talk in circles around the obvious?

This community needs accountability from our police department. We need to know that the trust is earned. Anything other than clear accountability and reform is smoke and mirrors.
