Sidewalk cycling clogs Madison
The October 1971 council meeting was abuzz with discussion over “the way in which the kids completely disregard all the laws that govern the use of bicycles.” The lengthy discussion addressed bicycles on the Madison Street sidewalks, which sometimes even blocked the sidewalk and entrances to the stores completely. Police Lt. Good was assigned to study the situation and report to the council with suggestions and recommendations.
