A few years ago, I attended a Celebrating Seniors Week event simply out of curiosity. I left with something much more valuable — a renewed sense of connection. That’s what makes this week so impactful. It’s not about grand gestures; it’s about small, meaningful moments that bring people together.

This year’s lineup, running May 7-14, reflects that spirit beautifully. With more than 35 events, there’s something for everyone — whether it’s a wellness workshop, a financial planning seminar, a technology session, or a social gathering filled with music and laughter.

I’m particularly encouraged by the focus on digital literacy this year. So many older adults want to stay connected but feel left behind by technology. These sessions offer practical, hands-on support that can truly make a difference in daily life.

What I’ve learned is that these events aren’t just for seniors. They’re for caregivers, families, and anyone who values a more connected, compassionate community.

Take the time to attend one event. Bring a friend or a neighbor. You may walk away with new knowledge. Even more importantly, you’ll likely walk away with a new perspective.
