Six teams form girls softball league
Six teams will form the Chicago National Girls Softball League when the fast femine loop moves into action the latter part of the month. Besides the Parichy Bloomer Girls, who will represent the western suburbs and Far West Side, the Rockola Music Maids, Chicago Chicks, Chicago Bluebirds, Queens and Sparks will compete in the league’s schedule.
Manager Marty McManus who will guide the Bloomers through the coming campaign will field a practically new ball club. Irene Chromchik from local Cicero who has held down the hot corner of the infield for the past seven seasons will be the lone veteran returning.
McManus added another pitcher to his staff of three by signing Tosch Vaughn from Cleveland to complete the hurling corps with Gloria Gregroty from New Rochelle, N.Y., and Winnie Reed from Saskatchewan, Canada.
