Before ATM's and electronic transactions, the 'Silent Teller' was the innovation of Forest Park National Bank in 1949.  This enabled patrons to make deposits safely, after regualr business hours.

Forest Park Bank, which opened it's doors in May of 1943 as The Forest Park National Bank and Trust Company, had made the front page of the Forest Park Review December 15, 1949.   The bank installed a new, modern piece of equipment in the lobby know as the "silent teller."

Patrons had the luxury of using the Silent Teller 12 hours a day, from 7am to 7pm, outside of regular banking hours.  At that time, the bank was open 9 am to 3pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, closed all day Wednesday and open Thursday evenings from 6pm- 8:30pm.
