These students just visited the fire trailer.

Each year, the Forest Park Fire Department teams with the second grade teachers to teach fire safety through their “Learn Not to Burn” program. Firefighter Andrew comes in for regular lessons that include preventative measures, steps to take if there is a fire, and equipment demonstrations. The teachers and fire department stress the importance of children knowing their home phone numbers and addresses in case of emergency. The culminating activity is a visit to the fire trailer, in which the students identify potential fire hazards to fix and participate in a fire simulation to practice escaping and calling 911.

Thanks to the FPFD for their help with this important topic each year! The students love it and learn very valuable safety lessons.
