The Oak Park YMCA will present what a new Y facility looks like to a Forest Park community group on Thursday night, but Y president and CEO Scott Gaalaas said the event doesn’t mean the organization has settled on relocation plans.

“It means nothing. Nothing has changed,” Gaalaas said of the meeting, which he said will feature a video presentation of what a “generic” new Y facility looks like sitting on five acres of land.

“We have several properties we’re looking at that we can’t make public,” he said.

The Y has continued to talk with Forest Park Mayor Anthony Calderone about the Altenheim property, but official negotiations haven’t taken place and no site-specific plans have been drafted, Gaalaas said.

The meeting was organized by Citizens Unite in Forest Park (CUinFP), to “shed light” on the Y’s possible relocation, said CUinFP member Steve Backman.

Gaalaas has agreed to take questions following the presentation, he said.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Forest Park Public Library, 7555 Jackson Blvd.
