Joan Griffin, 73, former Forest Park resident
Joan A. Griffin (nee O’Donnell), 73, formerly of Forest Park, died Feb. 22, 2005 at Mercy Hospital in Chicago.

Griffin was orginally from Pittsburgh, Penn., but moved to Chicago, where she sttended St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Grade School and High School.

She is survived by her children, Jennifer (Donald) Bisch, Jessica Griffin, Alison (James) Pavesich and Cristine Witulski; her sisters, Marjorie (Ernest) Gonzalez and Helen Ryan; her brother-in-law, Lawrence Malloy; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; her parents, Richard and Alice O’Donnell; her son-in-law, Thomas Witulski; her sister, Lois Malloy; and her brother-in-law, Michael Ryan.

Visitation was held Friday at the Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home in Naperville, followed by services Saturday at St. Joan of Arc Church in Lisle. Interment was held at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Naperville.

Robert Sawyer, 63, former treasurer at Altenheim
Robert W. Sawyer, 63, of Forest Park, died Feb. 22, 2005. He was born on Feb. 17, 1942 in Chicago to Matt and Helen Sawyer. A graduate of Morgan Park Academy High School and Lake Forest College, he served in the Army National Guard for 6 years in the 1970s.

Sawyer was the former vice president of marketing at Oak Park Hospital, retiring in 1986. He was also the past treasurer of The Altenheim in Forest Park and a member of Forest Park Kiwanis.

Sawyer is survived by his wife, Kathryn E. “Betsy” (nee Davis) of Forest Park. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation was held Feb. 25 at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home in Oak Park. Funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 26 at St. Luke Church in River Forest, followed by interment at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines Memorials to the American Heart Association, Dept. 77-3968, Chicago 60678-3968 are appreciated.

Lucille Witzke, 81, bakery manager
Lucille Witzke (nee Schmidt), 81, died Feb. 22 in MacNeal Hospital.

Witzke is a former manager of a bakery and lived in Forest Park.

She is survived by her daughters, Suzanne (Steve) Cetnarowicz and Pamela Witzke; her siblings, Charles (Leona) Schmidt, Mary Burke and Carolyn Yahle; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home.
