I just wanted to extend a sincere ‘thank you’ to all who made our 3rd annual fundraiser for ‘Wounded Warrior Project’ such a success. The community as a whole really steps up from all angles, businesses and residents; sponsoring and assisting these true heroes who have been severely injured in battle protecting our freedom.
Larry Piekarz and the Park District staff offered us a warm home, again, and Murphy’s Pub took care of every detail in assuring the thirsty park goers had refreshments, all while donating a great chunk of the proceeds to the Wounded Warrior Project. Sponsorships from area business really add to the event and that list is ever growing and much appreciated. These area businesses deserve a round of applause: Consolidated Auto, Fat Duck Tavern, Ambee’s Engraving, McGaffer’s Saloon, Ferrara Pan Candy, Currie Motors, Midwest Skylite and the biggest supporter VFW Post 7181. Quarter Master Tim Hogan and our local VFW has a ‘whatever we can do attitude’ and the help and generosity is humbling.
There are also a few individuals who selflessly give their valuable time and treasure and need to be acknowledged. Karen Dylewski, whose passion for doing whatever she can for our military is something we should all strive for. Marty Tellalian, who graciously donated his hard earned money to cover the costs of having the auxiliary police present, and lastly Tracy Timberlake and John Kwarcinski who are true partners in making this go off without a hitch.
Thanks to everyone for another great year!
