Demonstrating that last March’s $500,000 tax abatement to the taxpayers of Forest Park was not a one-time fluke, District 91 will once again abate a portion of levied taxes next year. The D91 board received a tentative tax levy schedule for tax year 2012, on which they agreed to vote at the January or February 2013 meeting.
Overall, the district’s property tax levy request will be the same as the total dollars that were received from the prior year levy request, said Asst. Supt. Ed Brophy. But the board will abate the entire debt service portion of the levy back to taxpayers, totaling $1,094,027. According to the district, this will amount to a savings of $216 for a home valued at $350,000 and $288 for a residence valued at $450,000.This is the second tax abatement from the district in 18 months, for a total of more than $1,500,000.
