Congratulations to Ken Trainor on the emergence of his latest book, Unfinished Pentecost. This book concerns the contribution of Vatican II to the Catholic, or should I say catholic, church and to the future. His introductory remarks at the Unity Temple in Oak Park on June 6 were better than any sermon I’d ever heard with the possible exception of any by Rev. F. Dean Lueking, (formerly of Grace Lutheran Church). Ken’s work will be of interest to anyone who ponders the universal spirit that lives in each of us. This spirit is beyond any narrow belief or non-belief. Ken says all this much better than I can.

Our very own Centuries and Sleuths was again represented at Printer’s Row this year. Hope you got down there, it’s always exciting. So much to see and do. So many people to run into unexpectedly. Let’s go next year for sure. Julia Keller will be discussing and signing copies of her debut mystery, A Killing in the Hills at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 28 at the bookstore. Ms. Keller is a former Chicago Tribune columnist.

Sheree Pintozzi has again undertaken the enormous task of organizing a St. Bernardine Reunion. This reunion will include ALL graduates. For the last reunion, Sheree heard from people as far back as the classes of 1938 and 1981. This year’s date is September 14th from 4 – 10 p.m. The reunion will take place in Saint Bernardine School Hall and will be catered by Jimmy’s. Tickets are $40, there will be a d.j, photographer and lots and lots of memories and friends. If any $ is left over, it will be given to the church.
