It was a bittersweet day for the all of us, members and non-members of Saint Peter’s Church alike. A much beloved part of Forest Park is gone. Unfortunately, so are many of the former members. Recall Grace Scheil, trip, tripping along the street in her high heels usually carrying a dish to be shared with the members. Nancy Bower left us too soon. Loretta Woeltje, faithfully carrying out her duties with her dear little dog, Lady, standing by her side on Monday mornings, waiting for a ride back home. Many memories. May Bill’s entire life has been intrinsically tied to Saint Peter’s and by a tragic misunderstanding, she was unable to make the dinner at Jimmy’s Place for a final good bye. Shirley Dring came in for the event, all the Beckers, Mr. and Mrs. Jim, Nancy, Michelle and Clay Baum, all except Lisa who had spent most of the night at the hospital with her father. Waneta Ross now goes to Good Shepherd in Oak Park and her friend, Jeredine Wiley will most likely be joining her there. Judy Jilek planned the event; she is shown her with Pastor Audrey Catalano.
Pastor Audrey spoke briefly about her future plans. She will probably be moving to Rochester, Minnesota and will be “filling in” for pastors in just about every Christian church there is with the exception of Roman Catholic and Missouri Synod Lutheran. Too bad Pope Francis wasn’t elected about 100 years ago or Audrey’d probably be eligible for them, too.
The newest face at Schauer’s is Gary Maher who worked in constructional his life. He comes to us from Chicago and we hope he stays a long time.
