She’ll be home for Christmas, she being Tess Tierney of Saint Paul, Minn. Tess now has a job in the Logan Square area and also an apartment in Forest Park. She is a recent graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a major in food science. Her dad, Mike Tierney, was a Gopher, (U of Michigan). He’s in town helping his daughter move in. The MacDowell/First United Methodist Church annual sing-a-long Messiah will be held at the church this Sunday, Dec. 8 at 3:30 in the afternoon. The church is located at 324 N. Oak Park Avenue As usual, a professional orchestra and soloists ,will be performing for your enjoyment along with the rest of us. Feel free to just sit and listen if you don’t feel like singing. A brief gathering after the performance will be held in the church hall.
When the G.K. Chesterton Society meets on December 14 at 1 p.m. at Centuries & Sleuths they should have some exciting business to talk about. G. K. Chesterton’s life is being studied with the possibility of his being a candidate for sainthood in the Catholic church! Tales of the Long Bow is scheduled for discussion on that day, but who knows what they’ll discuss?
