It may be a slight exaggeration to say it takes a village to educate a child, but only slight. And it’s no exaggeration to say it takes a village to put on the All School Picnic, a venerable tradition that relies on collaboration by District 91, the Park District of Forest Park and the village of Forest Park to pull off each year. And, of course, plenty of volunteers, parents and those who just can’t resist this time-honored event. The kids get out of school, public and private, for the day, and any adult involved gets to feel like a kid again.
This year’s event took place at The Park, Forest Park’s anonymously-named recreation headquarters, on Thursday, May 19, and better weather could not have been ordered. They no longer have a rain date, but they didn’t need one.
How many years has this been going on? Forever.
