TechnoTurtles, a 5th and 6th grade robotics team is researching solutions that will help improve the ways bees and people interact for their FLL Robotics Animal Allies research project.   To collect information on various beekeeping topics, students visited The Hive in Chicago with their coach, Mrs. Finn.  Urban apiary is growing in Chicago and other parts of the country as more and more people discover the health benefits of locally grown honey.  The Hive is run by the West Side Bee Boyz who not only sell bees, beekeeping equipment, and honey; they also provide classes, consulting services, and beekeeping management.  Students asked many questions and learned a great deal about hive hierarchy, types of honey, climate change and various threats to bees.
