The Proviso East Pirates took home the 2017 Proviso West Holiday Tournament Consolation Championship, outlasting the Proviso West Panthers, 71-64 late last month. 

According to a game summary found on the tournament’s website, “The Pirates led the entire game, including opening a 42-23, 19-point lead in the third quarter before the Panthers made a furious comeback, narrowing the gap all the way down to seven, 71-64, with 26 seconds to play in the fourth quarter.

“The Pirates featured a balanced effort that saw four in double-figures scoring, led by Quinlan Bennett’s 18. Jordan Morris and Trevor Moore added 13 apiece while Jaelon Hood finished with 12 points and 10 assists in the winning effort.”

In the tournament’s championship game, Orr defeated Whitney Young, 77 to 62, to secure the tournament championship.
