Some called it a “hidden gem in Forest Park” and “the best”, but Forest Park’s Fuji Grill Sushi & More, 315 Harlem Ave., is no more.

We tried to get in touch with the owner to find out if the sushi restaurant had moved, perhaps, but Fuji’s phone number is no longer active. The restaurant was last reported open in late February. Its listed website now redirects to chain of restaurants by the same name headquartered in Orange, California.

The Fuji folks gave no indication as to what happened on their Facebook page, but the restaurant’s Yelp profile – diners gave it 4.5 out of five stars for what it’s worth – confirms that the restaurant is closed.

Fuji was one of the first sushi restaurants opened in the area, and was run by beloved Chef Stefano Chung. It was known for its sushi boats and sushi-making parties.
