Man found with heroin, bullets at Blue Line terminal
Police responded to the Forest Park Blue Line station, 711 Desplaines Ave., about 9:50 a.m. on March 4, after a call about a fight in progress.
When they arrived, they reportedly found Michael Gentry, 25, of Chicago, involved in the fight. Gentry gave them a false name and date of birth. He told police he did not have any identification on him and was on his way to a job interview.
Officers searched Gentry for weapons because the original call alleged that one subject had a knife. They found an ID that identified him as Gentry.
A database search turned up two outstanding warrants for his arrest from the Cook County Sheriff’s Office. Officers handcuffed Gentry and escorted him to the squad car. He started to scream for someone named “T” and attempted to run away from police. Officers got him on the ground, where he tensed his body and refused to move. Police carried him to the squad car.
Inside the car, he began to cry and say he was going to go to prison for a long time because he had “clips” with bullets and heroin.
Gentry arrived at the station, where a search revealed he had three bags containing heroin on him. In his backpack, officers found three loaded Springfield Armory firearm magazines, a loaded Glock magazine, a loaded FN magazine and a Sig Sauer magazine.
Officers searched his name for a firearm owner’s identification (FOID), and found he is a convicted felon.
He was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and possession of a controlled substance, along with the outstanding warrants.
Suspected dealer arrested with cannabis
Police noticed a man pacing behind Blueberry Hill, 427 Desplaines Ave., at 1:51 p.m. on March 7. The man, Clayton Anderson, 34, of LaSalle, walked to the front of Athena’s Silverland Desserts, 439 Desplaines Ave., and then walked away.
Officers saw an older man with sunglasses approach Anderson, and the two walked to an apartment building at 443 Desplaines Ave. Anderson exited the building about 15 minutes later and drove down Desplaines Avenue, making an illegal turn 711 Desplaines Ave. Police curbed the vehicle and noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from the car.
Officers uncovered a garbage bag and large cardboard box containing suspect cannabis. Nearly $2,100 in cash was discovered on Anderson, who told police he purchased $1,500 worth of marijuana from the man at 443 Desplaines and was “fronted” the rest. The total amount of marijuana found in his car was 5,500 grams.
He was charged with felony delivery/manufacture of cannabis over 30 grams and a moving violation.
Car stolen while in line for coffee
A woman was waiting for coffee at Dunkin Donuts, 7660 Madison St., at 10:56 a.m. on March 4, when she noticed people pulling on the doors of her Cadillac. The car was left running in the parking lot.
She ran outside and watched as her car pulled out of the lot and headed eastbound on Madison Street.
Police later found the vehicle at the intersection of Madison Street and Harlem Avenue, preparing to go southbound. Officers attempted to curb the vehicle but the Cadillac refused to stop. The car was last seen entering I-290.
Chicago woman arrested for DUI
Police curbed a Pontiac Aztek on the 7600 block of Madison Street at 1:17 a.m. on March 4, after the car changed lanes without signaling.
Office approached the driver, and asked the woman, 30, for her driver’s license and insurance. She fumbled with her wallet, asking police to repeat several times the documentation they were looking for.
Police asked her how old she was, and the woman, a resident of Chicago, replied she was born in 2006, which would make her 12 years old. Officers also observed a plastic cup in the center console that appeared to contain alcohol.
The woman said she had not been drinking. Police asked her to count backward from 33 to 21, and the woman was unable to complete the task. Officers asked her to recite the alphabet from “G” to “Q” and the woman was unable to complete the task.
Officers administered a breathalyzer, and the Chicago woman blew 0.206, a blood alcohol content more than twice the legal limit. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI), improper turning, open alcohol and DUI over 0.08.
These items were obtained from police reports filed by the Forest Park Police Department, March 4-10, and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Unless otherwise indicated, anybody named in these reports has only been charged with a crime. These cases have not been adjudicated.
