Chicago Magazine showed Forest Park some serious love in its “Suburbia! An Adventure Guide” feature on March 11, naming Madison Street “the most Mayberryest downtown” among other accolades. Mayberry is the fictious town where “The Andy Griffith Show” was set.

Chicago Mag called out Brown Cow Ice Cream Parlor for its ice cream, the village’s “old-timey” street lamps, and recommended spending a Saturday at a curbside pub.

“It has the ideal mix of independent shops, buzzy restaurants, and small-town nostalgia — and you can get there on the L,” the magazine wrote. Towns across Illinois — from the Wisconsin border to Indiana — were all considered. Finalists included Geneva, Highland Park, La Grange and Tinley Park.

Gaetano’s also made the magazine’s list of 30 best restaurants in the suburbs, with Chicago Mag writing: “What’s more charming: the puffy Sardinian spinach ravioli or the chef’s menu note insisting that ‘if you don’t like it, please, call my sister Rosaria.'”

We couldn’t agree more.
