A possible child luring incident took place on Sept. 23 between 7 and 7:45 p.m. on the north sidewalk of Lehmer Street between Circle Avenue and Elgin Avenue, police have reported
An 11-year-old girl told police she was walking home alone from Forest Park Middle School when she was approached by a man in an older model beige-colored truck.
According to the police report, the vehicle, which may have been a Ford Expedition, stopped beside the girl. The driver reportedly yelled out the window to her, “Do you need a ride?”
The girl stopped walking but did not respond. The driver then asked, “Excuse me?”
The girl began walking and the vehicle pulled away.
The driver was described as a black male in his 30s or 40s with a bald head and dark complexion.
Forest Park Detective Lt. Ken Gross said the department has no leads or further information at this point and has not received reports of similar occurrences.
Elementary School District 91 circulated an email to all parents and guardians the following day letting them know the incident occurred.
