Jessica Voogd, the village of Forest Park’s commissioner of public property, announced at the Sept. 23 village council meeting that the Forest Park Recreation Board is seeking to fill vacancies.
The mission of the recreation board, as stated on the village website, “is to influence the maintenance, safety and improvement of village parks and playgrounds.” This includes a safety program to ensure village-owned playgrounds are being regularly inspected.
While the Park District of Forest Park is responsible for maintaining and operating the greenspaces and facilities it owns along Harrison Street, the village of Forest Park is responsible for maintaining five “pocket” parks, the dog park and grounds formerly owned by The Altenheim.
The recreation board is also the means through which residents can communicate with the department of public property regarding questions or concerns related to park equipment and grounds.
Regular meetings will be held on the second Thursday of each month.
