A 64-year-old Forest Park resident’s 1998 Jeep Cherokee was forcibly hijacked on the 500 block of Hannah on Dec. 22 at 6:17 a.m. The victim was sitting in his vehicle in a rear parking space when he was approached by three offenders. The first offender offered the victim $500 for a ride. When the victim refused, the offender asked for his cell phone. The victim then told the three offenders he had to leave, and the first offender forcibly took the victim’s vehicle and house keys from his hand.
The victim exited the vehicle to avoid a physical confrontation, at which point the offenders entered the vehicle and fled north down the alley, then west bound onto Adams. A police search of the area was conducted, but the vehicle and offenders were not located.
Heroin overdose at Blue Line stop
A man suffering from an apparent heroin overdose was treated by a Forest Park police officer with Naloxone on Dec. 21 at 5:02 p.m. at the Blue Line stop at 711 Desplaines Ave. The reporting officer arrived at the scene to find a man unresponsive and foaming from his mouth and nose, eyes rolling back in his head. The officer administered one dose of Naloxone and held the man up until he let out a deep breath, regained consciousness and began responding to his name. He was transported to the hospital.
A second man, who had accompanied the overdose victim on the train from the city, said he knew his friend had snorted heroin at some point, but he wasn’t sure when. When they exited the train, he said, his friend had trouble walking and staying conscious, and once they got off the elevator, he lay on a bench, became unconscious and began foaming from the mouth. At that point the friend called 911.
Counterfeit cash at 7-Eleven
A man added $360 onto a reloadable Green Dot card and paid with four counterfeit $100 bills at the 7749 Roosevelt Rd. 7-Eleven on Dec. 25 at 1:54 a.m. The employee said she accepted the money and handed the suspect his change. When she received the bills from the suspect, she said they felt real and she saw “a line” on them and therefore did not think they were counterfeit.
She later discovered they were fake and called the police at 7:12 a.m. Video footage shows the suspect enter the parking lot from the south entrance in a white or gray four door sedan with an unknown license plate, park, enter the store and make the transaction. The counterfeit money was inventoried as evidence.
Graffiti on Green Line train car
Officers were called to 1 S. Harlem Ave. on Dec. 26 at 8:17 a.m. when CTA workers discovered graffiti on train car 5132. Police took digital photos for the report, and noted the “taggers” initials were TKO, BAD and HIER.
These items were obtained from police reports filed by the Forest Park Police Department, Dec.19-26, and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Unless otherwise indicated, anybody named in these reports has only been charged with a crime. These cases have not been adjudicated.
