Proviso Township High Schools District 209 will launch a new mobile app on Feb. 4, D209 officials announced earlier this month.

The new D209 Mobile App will launch on the same day as Bring Your Parent to School Day, which was held at each school on Tuesday. Officials said that they’ll be assisting parents with downloading the free app during the Bring Your Parent to School Day events.

The new mobile app will be available for download online at the iTunes and Google Play app stores, officials said.

“The mobile app will offer a constantly updated feed of district news and events with photos and links to the district’s website,” D209 officials explained in a statement. “The app can also be customized by the user by selecting the schools they are most interested in for news and updates.”

Officials added that users will also be able to receive push notifications for breaking news, updates on school closures, calendar changes and sporting events.

“Ensuring that we communicate with students, parents, and community members through the channels they prefer is important to me,” D209 Supt. Jesse Rodriguez explained in the district statement.

“We know that people today look for information on their smartphones as such the new Mobile App will help our school community stay connected and engaged to D209 while also helping us reach them much faster with critical information,” he said.

To download the new app, follow these three steps:

  1. From a smart phone or mobile device, go to the iTunes App Store or Google Play
