Bills install an inground pool – read more from 1959

An improvement to the neighborhood and joy to the owners is an new swimming pool at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bill of 1017 Beloit. The pool is build to solid reinforced concrete, 36 ft. long, 24 ft. wide at the deep and , 18 ft. wide at e shallow ed and 3 1/2 to 9 1/2 ft. deep. The family spends many happy hours at a sport which they all love.

With the Park District pool closing for the summer season, many locals can be heard splashing in their own backyards.

Harold Bill, had this inground swimming pool installed in his backyard in 1959 which made the news in Forest Park’s finest newspaper. Harold was one of the 7 sons and 5 daughters that grew up at 155 Elgin, and the Bill family tree still is active in town over a hundred years later. Janet Fink, a descendant of the Bill’s, remembers swimming in Uncle Harold’s backyard.

While the pool at 1017 Beloit has been filled in, surely the stories from family and friends still can be heard generations later.
