Get Started on Holiday Shopping
Urban Pioneer Group, 7503 Madison St., is hosting a vendor pop-up on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 12 p.m. Get started on your holiday shopping with jewelry and accessories, kids’ books, hand rolled cigars, etched glasses and more. Stop by for a homemade pretzel or take home a cookie decorating kit. Come support small businesses!
Inktober Drawing Challenge
Inktober begins Oct. 1 and encourages participants to create a drawing a day for the 31 days of the month. The Forest Park Public Library is participating by challenging residents to draw every day and submit drawings, which will be shared to social media and FPPL TV. Email contributions to ys@fppl.org. Workshop for Writers
The Writers’ Circle with author Elizabeth Wetmore will be held on Oct. 1 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. through the Forest Park Public Library. It’s a virtual event, in which the author of “Valentine” will lead an engaging, supportive workshop for writers of all levels. Register at fppl.org/events.
Voting During the Pandemic
Join the League of Women Voters on Oct. 6 from 2 to 3 p.m. via Zoom for a non-partisan review of voter registration, new vote-by-mail processes, and expanded early voting. There will be a short presentation followed by a Q&A discussion. This session will be recorded in its entirety for the library’s FPPL TV channel. Virtual Senior Yoga
The Park District of Forest Park has another round of virtual senior yoga coming up. The class is on Thursdays, from Oct. 1 through Nov. 5 via Zoom. Improve flexibility, let go of muscle tension and release stress. Oaktober Nature Walk
Join the staff at the Trailside Museum of Natural History, 738 Thatcher Ave. in River Forest, on Sat., Oct. 3, at 10 a.m. for a naturalist-guided trail-walk, exploring the interesting world of oak trees, and discuss the ecosystems, animals and insects that depend on oak trees. This event is for adults, and all participants are required to wear masks and practice physical distancing. Reservations are required.
