Harlem Meat Market located at 22 Madison (today 7218 Madison St.) circa 1899.  Today, it is Fat Duck Restaurant, at the corner of Elgin and Madison St.   In 1920 it was known as Gottlieb Schwab Grocery and advertised “homemade sausage of all kinds, a specialty.”  In addition, the Gottlieb Schwab Grocer delivered groceries to your home.

For many generations it was referred to as Schwab’s Hall, with incarnations as Forest Park Tavern (1950’s), Alpine (early 1970’s), Bill’s Pub (mid 1970’s), and Horan’s Snug (1980’s, 90’s early 2000’s).

No matter the generation, the atmosphere and spirits there have always been  worth celebrating.
