In 1998 Madison St. greeted Santa at the Annual Holiday Walk on a Saturday.  It was unseasonably warm, a balmy 66 degrees and partly sunny.  Children greeted Santa in t-shirts and baseball hats.   Dorothy Gillian, of My Sister’s Cafe, dressed in shorts and donned a Santa hat.  Jim Neadeu carved a ice sculptures live, but visitors would have to be early to see them, they melted within two hours.

This was the year Forest Parkers could really get to know the live reindeer, take in the stroll on Madison  and get valuable shopping time on  Madison Street.  A whopping 120 photos were taken with Santa in the lobby of Forest Park National Bank and Trust.  Ed Fee and Judy Trage decorated every parking meter, as free parking days began.
