Shoot the Chute was a popular ride at the Forest Park Amusement Park, which opened in 1908 and ran for about 14 years.

The Forest Park Amusement Park, which was located at the current-day intersection of Des Plaines Avenue and the Eisenhower Expressway, had numerous rides, including Shoot the Chute, shown here. The flat bottomed boat would slide down a ramp into a lagoon. The ride and lagoon were flanked by roller coasters. On the right side of this photo is the Giant Safety Coaster, the largest roller coaster at the time. On the left is the entrance to the Leap the Dips ride. The lagoon, where the Shoot the Chute riders ended up, was in the center of that section of the park.
