I want to introduce Andy Viano, the new editor of the Forest Park Review. He starts work this week and has a byline on page 1 already. Expect to see him around town in the weeks ahead. Don’t hesitate to introduce yourself. You can also connect to him by email at Andy@ForestParkReview.com.
We’ve been without an editor for the Review for a while now. And it has taken us some time to find the right person for the Review. We’re confident that Andy is that person. The paper has felt a little cobbled together these past few weeks, we know. But waiting to find a strong and experienced editor and then waiting a little longer for Andy to wrap up his duties at the Times of Northwest Indiana will prove to have been worth it.
A Chicago area native, Andy comes directly from the Times but has spent most of the past several years working in community journalism at a very strong weekly, the Flathead Beacon, in Kalispell, Montana. His reporting was strong, empathetic and community minded.
If, like me, you are a baseball fan, you might engage Andy about his leading role with two minor league baseball teams in the Chicago area – the Gary RailCats and the Schaumburg Boomers.
Welcome to Forest Park and the Review, Andy.
