Friday night, under the lights of the new Kelly Stadium, the Proviso East High School Pirates took on the Hinsdale South High School Hornets.

With Senior Night in full swing, the Pirates showed their gridiron grit and remained disciplined and focused in the face of an opponent who is now third in the West Suburban Gold conference. The Pirates held their heads high in the first game at their new stadium before falling 55-12.
The Pirate cheerleading squad wasted no time in drawing the crowd into the familiar chants of blue and white with a lively routine for the fans to open the halftime show. Making their marching band debut on the field, proudly dressed in their new uniforms, band members performed their latest field show, including the song, “Flashing Lights” by Kanye West, as they showcased their well-rehearsed routine.

With a light rain falling, the clock ran throughout the second half while the underdog Pirates fought hard until the end.
