Forest Park’s annual community toy drive is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 10, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Howard Mohr Community Center, 7640 Jackson Blvd.

Those in the giving spirit are asked to bring a new, unwrapped gift or gift card to the event, then stick around for appetizers and “a cup of cheer” as fellow gift-givers arrive. Toys collected at the event will be donated to families in need in Forest Park this holiday season.

The village-run community center has also been busy preparing for Thanksgiving, distributing approximately 130 turkeys, stuffing, pies, pasta and other items (including a gift certificate to Ed’s Way Food Mart) at an event Monday, Nov. 22.

Some of the items distributed on Nov. 22 came from the existing inventory at the community center’s in-house food pantry, which accepts donations of nonperishable, shelf-stable food items year-round. Donations to the food pantry can be made between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

More information is available by calling the community center at 708-771-7737.
