A woman pre-emptively called the Forest Park police because she believed a man who gave her $2,000 as a gift was going to accuse her of stealing the money.

According to a police report filed on Sun- day, Dec. 12, the woman said she met the man on the chat app Tango and, over a three- month period, the man had sent her $2,000, unsolicited, and that she told him she was not interested in a romantic relationship.

When the man continued to pressure her into a romantic relationship and she continued to refuse, the woman said he then threatened to file a police report and tell law enforcement that the woman “was extorting money from him.”

The woman deleted her Tango account.
