Forest Park police recovered more than 5.3 pounds of illicit cannabis during a traffic stop near Interstate 290 and Desplaines Avenue on Saturday, March 19 at 6:30 p.m.
An officer initially pulled the vehicle over because it was traveling with a cracked windshield and because they believed they observed a gang tattoo on the driver’s hand, which was visible out the window.
During the stop, officers reportedly smelled burning marijuana and searched the vehicle, finding multiple containers and a duffel bag filled with approximately 2,435 grams (5.3 pounds) of marijuana.
The driver of the vehicle allegedly admitted to possessing the marijuana and was arrested. The passengers were released without being charged.
This information was obtained from police reports filed by the Forest Park Police Department. Unless otherwise indicated, anybody named in these reports has only been charged with a crime. These cases have not been adjudicated.
