Customers who stopped at Bed, Bath and Beyond’s Forest Park location, 215 Harlem Ave., two days before it closed on March 19, found rows of barren shelves and a few bits of inventory tossed on the shelves at the front.
The store was among 87 locations closed over the past two months as the company hovers on the brink of bankruptcy. The closures were announced on Jan. 30.
When the Review visited the store on March 17, employees hung around, chatting. Photos on the wall advertised all the office furniture and store fixtures available for sale. The staff brought out file cabinets, and even ladders and enormous shelves in the back of the store were on sale.
