A customer at Pioneer Tap bar was attacked by two women on Nov. 14 at around 8 p.m.
According to the victim and the victim’s friend, a woman that the victim had “a past history of differences with” came up behind her as she was sitting at the bar, grabbed the victim by the hair, pulled her to the ground and began beating her. The second woman the attacker was with joined in, kicking the victim. The friend pulled the two off the victim, and the duo left the bar.
The victim had injuries in her right eye, left leg and left arm. While some of the injuries healed, the pain in her left shoulder joint and the lower back persisted, leading her to go to an emergency room Dec. 3. That’s when the victim decided to file a police report.
The bar had security cameras, but the police were unable to obtain the footage at the time of the report. The victim’s friend said she believed that some other customers filmed in the incident on their phones, and she said she was going to try to get the footage.
Catalytic converter thefts
Three catalytic converter thefts hit Forest Park – and, in one case, the thieves came back three days after the victim scared them off.
The first theft happened on Lathrop Avenue. The victim used his tan 2007 Toyota Prius, and he discovered the theft on the night of Nov. 27 at 2:30 a.m. when he started the car and heard that it was making a loud noise.
The second theft happened at the 800 block of Desplaines Avenue. On Nov. 29 at around 4:14 a.m., a witness spotted two men under the silver 2005 Hyundai Elantra, which was parked at the building parking lot. The witness saw the duo get out from under the car and drive off in a gray Sedan of unknown make and model. The police officers who respond to the call confirmed that the catalytic converter was gone.
About half an hour later, the police got a call about another potential catalytic converter theft happening further north, at the 7300 block of Dixon Street. A victim saw two men hanging around his silver 2013 Hyundai Sonata and tried to scare them off. The duo fled.
An officer on patrol observed a silver Infiniti sedan near the Madison Street/Desplaines Avenue intersection, heading west, and saw two men inside. Thinking they might be the duo from the earlier theft, he tried to curb the Infiniti. The car raced through River Forest, eventually turning east on Lake Street and racing through Oak Park and into Chicago.
The police confirmed that the two didn’t steal the catalytic converter from the Hyundai.
However, the thieves came back the night of Dec. 2, at around 3 a.m. A witness saw two men get under the Hyundai, sawed off the converter and drove off in a car that matched the description of the Infiniti.
These items were obtained from police reports filed by the Forest Park Police Department, Nov.27 to Dec. 3, and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Unless otherwise indicated, anybody named in these reports has only been charged with a crime. These cases have not been adjudicated.
